A legacy of craftsmanship and growth
Founded by Carl Jensen, our company started with a simple yet ambitious vision: to shape metal with unparalleled skill and craftsmanship. By the 1960s, we had already begun exporting our solutions, marking the start of our global expansion. As demand grew, so did our facilities, doubling in size by the 1980s. In 1992, we took the next step in our evolution, officially becoming Maskinfabrikken Sjølund A/S.
Strengthening our expertise and global reach
The mid-90s saw a new chapter for Sjolund, with the establishment of a dedicated quality control department and further expansion of our production capabilities. In 2007, a shift in ownership to Søren Ravn Jensen brought a stronger international focus, leading to the opening of our first overseas subsidiary in China in 2009.
This global mindset has been instrumental in our success. Recognised as PwC’s Owner-Managed Company of the Year in 2016, we have continuously strengthened our position in the market. Our expertise was further enhanced in 2018 with the acquisition of a specialised sheet metal and fabrication plant in Estonia. Although the Estonian subsidiary has since been closed, the experience added valuable insight to our capabilities and expansion strategy.
Also in 2018, Sjolund was acquired by the German capital fund DBAG, a transition that brought new resources and perspectives to support the company’s continued growth and professionalisation.
In 2020, we achieved the prestigious EN 15085 welding certification—solidifying our reputation for excellence in precision manufacturing.
Innovation that moves industries forward
In 2021, we welcomed Zoran Aleksic as our Group CEO, reinforcing our leadership team with fresh strategic perspectives. The following year, we streamlined our operations and returned to our core strengths—when Søren Ravn bought the company back, once again taking full ownership of Sjolund.
Today, we remain at the forefront of profile bending technology, shaping steel and aluminium into complex, organic forms that push the boundaries of design and engineering. Whether supporting the architectural, transport, energy, or industrial sectors, we continue to transform ideas into reality, delivering precision, innovation, and reliability to our customers worldwide.
We have spent a great time arriving at this stage of experience and competence. That is why we feel confident saying that no project is too complex. At Sjolund, our company philosophy is, if you can think it, we can bend it!
